Mediation Sheffield seeks new volunteers for Board of Trustees

Mediation Sheffield (MESH Community Cohesion Services) has been a charity for over 25 years and is looking to expand its Board of Trustees.

MESH is keen to attract new volunteers with an interest in the strategic development of the organisation as well as particular experience of one or more of the following: financial management, marketing & publicity, health, clinical or workplace mediation.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience at board level and for personal development.

MESH provides mediation and conflict resolution in South Yorkshire. It has an on-going contract with the social housing sector in Sheffield so that they can offer neighbour mediation to improve the lives of their tenants. MESH is also currently involved in a number of projects using community mediation and training within communities in order to create healthier, more cohesive and more positive relationships within those communities.

MESH has five part time staff including a new Development Manager. The Charity recruits and trains volunteers to support its work, who continue to be an invaluable asset to the organisation. MESH is involved in other areas of mediation, including family mediation with young people at risk to getting drawn into gangs, and workplace mediation.

The Trustee board is closely involved with the staff, and holds meetings monthly in the evening at Scotia Works, S1 4SE, which can be scheduled to the convenience of its members. The requirement is for people who want to contribute to the strategic development and governance of a thriving charity that has an important role to play in the development of Sheffield and beyond.
